R. Janet Walraven’s Connect for Classroom Success Guide

A practical mentoring guide draws on 35 years of experience to help educators build stronger connections with students.

Seattle, Washington, United States, 2nd Oct 2026 - R. Janet Walraven, M.Ed., a retired 35-year K-12 educator, presents Connect for Classroom Success: A Mentoring Guide for Teachers K-12, a practical guide built around the importance of meaningful connections in education.

R. Janet Walraven’s Connect for Classroom Success Guide

Drawing on decades of classroom experience, Walraven shares real teaching scenarios and practical insights to help educators navigate the challenges of working with students, parents, colleagues, administrators, and other school staff. The book reflects the author's belief that effective teaching involves more than delivering a curriculum. It also requires understanding students, building relationships, and creating an environment where learning can thrive.

Walraven's motivation for writing the book came from personal experience. During the early years of teaching, the author found that knowing the subject and knowing how to teach it were only part of the profession. Classroom organization, discipline, parent communication, relationships with colleagues and administrators, and finding the support needed to succeed presented additional challenges.

Rather than presenting education as a traditional textbook, Connect for Classroom Success uses scenarios and examples to illustrate situations educators may encounter in their daily work. Walraven's approach is centered on showing readers what can happen in real educational settings and encouraging thoughtful responses to those situations.

About the Book

Connect for Classroom Success focuses on building stronger relationships throughout the educational community. The book explores classroom management, discipline, parent communication, student relationships, collaboration with colleagues, administrative relationships, reading, challenged learners, motivation, professionalism, and other aspects of teaching.

A central message of the book is the importance of recognizing the potential within every student. Walraven encourages educators to look beyond past performance and labels and help students recognize their abilities, develop new skills, and maintain a passion for learning.

The book is intended for teachers, parents, administrators, students, and other educators. It offers perspectives drawn from Walraven's extensive experience in both private and public schools.
